NEW COURSES FOR WINTER 2024!
Twice a year I run a 6 week course called Landscape Painting for beginners and improvers. This year due to popular demand, I am adding COLLAGE ELEMENTS to the course for the first time.
What does this mean?
Once we have created an almost finished painting, we will paint or print our own COLLAGE PAPERS which we will carefully add to an almost finished artwork. This will give you taste of collage and will enhance your paintings.
We meet for 2.5 hours, once a week and learn so much. The dates are arranged and once I have 3 or 4 committed students, we work out the best day of the week for us all.
This is an action packed 6 week course in which you will learn SO much! Plus, it’s good to get together, make art and talk.

“What a fantastic and inspiring course! And, so much to learn and achieve in such a short timeframe. Starting with simple methods and techniques, to the finished (master)pieces all in just six weeks. Amazing..”

“I started the course with Jools feeling rather inadequate and convinced that I could not paint. Right from the start she encouraged me to play, to explore and experiment and to make my own judgments about what I liked - or didn't like.

What People Are Saying
“What a fantastic and inspiring course! And, so much to learn and achieve in such a short timeframe. Starting with simple methods and techniques, to the finished (master)pieces all in just six weeks. Amazing.
Jools takes you through a process which allows you to interpret and develop colour and compositions, layout and depth – no hard points! Beginning with very simple line drawings of an intention, or interpretation of what you wish to paint.
We started with photos and scenes which inspire, or hold a memory or meaning; the rest is down to you, but under Jools’ watchful eye and guidance obviously. Ask Jools what you think might work, and after a brief demo/advice, do it and see. But most importantly, you’ll enjoy the process and the results.
It is a very creative course and a lot of fun too and I can’t thank my family enough for gifting this course to me. Especially as I have now had two of my creations professionally framed; I am very pleased with the result of the whole experience.
I will acquire the necessary materials and equipment and I will continue to create and develop; I could write so much more about the experience, but I can wholeheartedly say all the good stuff I didn’t mention, you’ll find out and enjoy along your own Landscape Painting Course ‘journey’.
Highly recommended.”

“Jools’ landscape art class has been both inspirational and fun. It has given me the confidence to step out of my comfort zone and use mediums and techniques I have never used before. Jools is a wonderful teacher, practical, knowledgeable and highly skilled. She’ll give you the tools, all you need is the imagination. We have learned so much and created some great pieces of work. I can’t wait to see what we will produce next term. Thank you Jools!”

“I started the course with Jools feeling rather inadequate and convinced that I could not paint. Right from the start she encouraged me to play, to explore and experiment and to make my own judgments about what I liked - or didn't like.
She showed me techniques and explained the effect they helped create, always showing me and then letting me loose! She unpacked the basics of composition, colour mixing, perspective and much more. Infinitely patient and encouraging - I am now able to enjoy painting on my own and learning as I go, experimenting and loving my disasters as well as my successes.
Thoroughly recommended - and the cake was great too!.”

“Art with Jools was a joy … as a total beginner with zero creative talent I enjoyed the way the course built up technique each week and am delighted with what I was able to achieve under her guidance. Jools has a lovely, calm, encouraging manner and her studio provides the perfect setting - I thoroughly recommend it!”
— Kate, December 2021
“I attended six classes with Jools working with Acrylics, my first real taste of that medium. The classes were clear, interesting and fun. We all felt we had achieved a new art and produced a painting we could be proud to show.”
